Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship and serve.

God comes to us in free and undeserved favor in the person of Jesus Christ who lived, died, and rose for us that we might belong to God and serve Christ in the world. Following Jesus, Presbyterians are engaged in the world and in seeking thoughtful solutions to the challenges of our time.

Presbyterians affirm that God comes to us with grace and love in the person of Jesus Christ, who lived, died, and rose for us so that we might have eternal and abundant life in him. As Christ’s disciples, called to ministry in his name, we seek to continue his mission of teaching the truth, feeding the hungry, healing the broken, and welcoming strangers. God sends the Holy Spirit to dwell within us, giving us the energy, intelligence, imagination, and love to be Christ’s faithful disciples in the world.

More than two million people call the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) their spiritual home. Worshiping in 10,000 Presbyterian congregations throughout the United States, they engage the communities in which they live and serve with God’s love.

Presbyterian (or presbyteral) polity is a method of church governance ("ecclesiastical polity") typified by the rule of assemblies of presbyters, or elders. ... Responsibility for conduct of church services is reserved to an ordained minister or pastor known as a teaching elder, or a minister of the word and sacrament.

We are part of the Presbyterian Church USA and the Presbytery of Tampa Bay.  We seek to be Christ-centered and Bibically guided in all that we do.

Our Philosophy

Faith is more than what happens on Sunday mornings. It's a part of who we are, inside and out. At First Presbyterian Church of Lake Alfred, we believe in sharing the joy of the gospels daily, and living a life that embodies the spirit of Christ.

We invite you to visit us anytime and be a part of our church family.  Grace and peace to you and those you love.

What We Believe

Who We Are

The First Presbyterian Church of Lake Alfred is the oldest continuous congregation in the city of Lake Alfred, and among the oldest in Polk County.  The church was begun about 100 years ago by a group of people meeting in the home of the Gardner family, who owned tracts of citrus groves in what was then known as Chub, Florida, now the city of Lake Alfred.

Together, we have established a covenant to continually seek the meaning of being Christ's church here in Lake Alfred.  Our congregation reflects all ages, but we are abundantly blessed with what Tom Brokaw calls "The Greatest Generation."

We come from a wide variety of locations, life experiences and churches from across the United States.  Our purpose is to be a loving, caring congregation that ministers to people's needs in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
