Annual
Benefit Horse Show, Bartow, Florida
Since
our first annual horse show in April of 2004, we have learned a lot
about horses and the people who love them. The show was
conceived as an outreach to younger people, and we busily set about
planning the show even though most of us had no knowledge of
horses. We believed that the show either would be a tremendous
success or an unmitigated disaster. With God's help, it turned
out to be the former.
All of the
entrants were flabbergasted to find out that this was our first attempt at managing a horse
show, and that with only two to four exceptions, we had no one who
knew anything about horses or staging a show prior to the event itself! Most
of us showed up between 8:00 AM and 8:30AM and left around 7:30POM.
That made it a long day but a very rewarding one.
We
since have consistently received compliments from the owners and
riders about the efficiency and professionalism of the show. All
have said they would eagerly await the next year's show. The
compliments must be true because this year's event had nearly double
the entries of our first show in 2004.
Of
interest to us has been the comment from riders and owners that they
have been treated more courteously at our show than at any
other. That type of comment is extremely gratifying for us and
makes us want to keep putting on the show.
